Sand is slipping through my fingers
As the nights are losing light
My summer love just came and now I’m watching it fade
There’s nothing I can do and it’s sort of terrifying
Already brokenhearted over a love I have yet to lose
Already sentimental over the little things
Fresh cut grass and gasoline
And the distant buzz of hard working bees
I’ll admit that it always feels out of my reach
Like there’s something hindering me from the beauty
It’s not enough to admire it from a distance
To watch it as it’s slipping away
And it’s not enough to pause the moment
Not to hold on to it, but to be in its grasp
To dissolve into it before its very last days
Anything to make this an eternity
