Broken Teeth

Don’t act so surprised
Or did I really have you fooled?
I should be an actress, I suppose
If I can fake it so good
Still, it pisses me off
Frankly, it’s ridiculous
How someone can be so clueless
I know I have a face of stone
But I’m not made of porcelain
With all these imperfections on my skin
This, you can’t ignore
So, for once, shut up and let me talk
Don’t pretend to be so shocked
Let’s rip the band-aid off
For once, just please
Let me talk about my insecurities
My stomach, thighs, and broken teeth
In the end, they’re all I have
So even if it goes on for a while
And I’ll still have my broken teeth
I’ll let go and I’ll smile

In Between Breaths

In the tall grass, it’s easy to lose trace
Not that our destination matters anyway
So many times, we’ve been lead astray
I don’t mind being devoured by this curious place
Watching your finger as it’s tracing the words
Of the book in your lap, so entertained
In the soil, your pants are already stained
There’s the heavenly singing of birds
And the wind and the trees are whispering
In the sunbeams we bathe, in a golden hue
I look at you – are you in awe too?
Do you, too, find this place bewildering?
Violent and cold, yet placid and warm
Every gust of wind slowly sways the ground
In between these breaths, my mind is unwound
We find ourselves in the eye of a storm

Sunken Soul

So you lied
Thought you could manipulate, you gave it a try
Saw right through your disguise
Played along with your game until your plan backfired

You’re looking so confused
Didn’t think that I was onto you?

I know you miss me
Thinking, maybe we could finally draw a line over this
It’s not that easy
Cause you see, you and me never really were friends

Doesn’t mean anything to me
So there’s no point in trying, you see

Gold

Meet me out in the field
Where the mud has frozen solid
And the leaves are turning golden
Out here, it’s just easier to breathe
It’s an ordeal to admit
There’s still ripples in these waters
After everything we’ve gathered
Peace just doesn’t come easy
But there’s no need to feel defeat
This ground we walk upon is sturdy
The clean air here is like therapy
For now, what more could we possibly need?
Our ideals will corrode
None of that matters anyway
We’re here now and I feel safe
Soon enough, we too can turn into gold
