Be Still

It’s getting so late now
You need to act fast
Wade through the flood while the water’s knee high
Before you’re washed away
Before you’re washed out
You need to stop giving pieces of yourself away
Watching as your skin turns transparent and pale
I want to reach out
I want to reach for you
But you want to climb this mountain on your own
You need to start moving, make yourself a home
Maybe all you need is some time alone…

Fire And Brimstone

This is a rotten place
Drifting through endless space
We’re extinct
Sunflowers trapped in shade, decaying
We’re tearing books apart
To make fires out of art
Come undone, scatter
Since there’s no sense in staying

Cause when the sunlight dies down
Into the darkness we drown
Our senses fading away
No hope of staying sane

People are warlike
Always ready to strike
Hold your breath
Don’t make a move, someone is after you
You’re on the battleground
Don’t you dare make a sound
Play dead
Say your prayer, lose yourself to despair

When the cogwheel stops turning
Cracked asphalt, oil burning
Our faces painted in fear
The end of time is here

You Know, You Do

They say it wouldn’t kill you to smile
That you’re always too serious
But bitterness suits you so well
And you’re hard to resist when you’re furious
When your eyes turn black in rage
And the fear turns into apathy
It always takes me by surprise
To see a change in your morality
Dare I say it’s enticing?
I can’t get enough of it
To see you so hungry with anger
It’s not enough with just one hit
When you’re looking for something to tackle
No one is standing in your way
There’s a storm brewing in you
Will it turn into a hurricane?
You seem to know something
So pardon me if I stare
You may stay silent for a while
But there’s something brooding in there

Siren

There it is, in front of me
The most dangerous sight to see
Just one look and I freeze
Brought down to my knees
Like a breath in cold air
It’s a temptation, it’s right there
Like glistening mist in the white
Dancing in golden sunlight
I try to grab onto it
Hold it in my palm if it will fit
To stay until the latest hour
But I don’t have that kind of power
So it’s slipping through my fingers
But the feeling lingers

A Cold And Fatal Takedown

There’s something in the snow
That keeps me warm
Somewhere in the cold
Something beneath my coat
Reminded of it every time
I pass that place
How I’ve been taken down
Tackled onto the ground
An elbow towards the hard ice
An endless sky
Then laughter as the flakes
Fall down and touch my face
Perhaps I had a bruise or two
A proper souvenir
And so I giggle every time
I think of that foe of mine

Klagosång

All it takes is your little song
A fleeting, simple melody
Far too brief and devastatingly sweet
Even in a state of dullness
The warmth creeps up to me
It draws me into confusion
And sets me back a decade
Or to whatever day it was
A hundred and something weeks ago
It’s all so hazy, when it happens so suddenly
There’s no getting used to it
The change of mood takes just a second
Before you know it, you’re hungry
Our minds rumbling, our stomachs empty
We want it now, yet now is not enough
So you’re determined to continue your commotion
While I sit and wait patiently
I cannot speak, your song is heartbreaking
Sweet little thing
What power you have over me
To make me remember so easily

Slip

At times, I wish I were transparent
So I could slip away into the night
To steal something and make it mine
If only for a while
Sometimes I wish I had no name
I’d be a stranger to them all
You’d hear the whispers and the talk
But I’d come and go without shame
A simple girl, how fun I’d be
You could sneak away with me
To hide under a roof of stars
And write a tale, so heavenly
